Applications for 6 Months Certificate Programme in Community Health for Nurses under Meghalaya National Health Mission: National Health Mission, Meghalaya invites candidates who are willing and enthusiastic to serve the community by bringing health care services to the doorsteps of the community to apply for the 6-Months Certificate Program in Community Health for Nurses for Garo Hills. The last date for submission of the application is 20.07.2021.

This course is part of an initiative under the National Health Mission to strengthen Sub-Centres as Health & Wellness Centres (H&WCs) for improved implementation of public health programs and to enable comprehensive primary health care service delivery, including disease prevention and health promotion.

Candidates who successfully complete this course will be posted at these sub-centers as Community Health Officers (CHOs) to lead a primary health care team consisting of frontline workers such as the female health workers (ANMs), male health workers (MPW), and ASHAs.

The program will be implemented through the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU). The course duration will be 6 months with two academic sessions on 1st July & 1st January each year.

The course is open to contractual employees of the State Government/ State Health Society. The eligible criteria for applying for the Certificate Programme is as follows:

Course Name:- 6 Months Certificate Program in Community Health for Nurse

  • No of posts:- 25 seats at Garo Hills
  • Age limit:- Less than 35 years of age; however, less than 40 years for the SCs and STs.
  • Educational Qualification:- General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) RNRM from a recognized Institute/Bachelor of Science in Nursing from a recognized Institute/University.
  • Desirable Criteria:
    1. Proficiency in regional/local language and dialect.
    2. At least 2 years of work experience in the Public Health system, preferably at the Primary/Community Health Centre level.

National Health Mission, Meghalaya shall provide support for boarding and lodging allowance; IGNOU fees; transport for practicum, and other training-related costs. Apart from this, candidates will continue to receive their salary/compensation during the training period.

After successful completion of the course, the successful candidates will be posted at the identified sub-centers as Health & Wellness Nurse and will receive additional increment or higher remuneration for working as Health & Wellness Nurse.
